The World Premiere of "A Transparent Musical" at Mark Taper Forum

Disclosure: Center Theatre Group provided me with two complimentary tickets to see A Transparent Musical. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Happy opening to A Transparent Musical! What a thrill and honor to be in the room for the world premiere of A Transparent Musical last night! From hearing a preview of a handful of songs a few weeks ago to seeing it all come together on stage, I am so grateful to have been able to witness part of the journey of this heartwarming musical.

Based off of the hit Amazon Prime original TV show Transparent and written by transgender and non-binary artists (Joey Soloway, Faith Soloway, and MJ Kaufman), this musical explores the intersection of Jewish and queer history while celebrating the imperfectly human aspects of a universally relatable family.

It was so nice to meet Peppermint who stars in the show as Davina! I loved her outfit and performance so much.

I also ran into Frankie Grande and Joe Serafini in the plaza before they hit the red carpet!

Dylan Mulvaney was so sweet and I loved her sparkly eye makeup!

We also met Rosie O’Donnell and Camryn Manheim who were there to see the show too!

The entire cast exudes so much joy and instantly captured my heart! I loved the songs and how relatable this story is - at the center of it all, this show is about family, love, and acceptance, and there’s no better time than now to be one of the first people to experience this musical. I truly believe this show is groundbreaking and I hope that it opens doors for more transgender stories to be told!

Ticket prices range from $40 to $129 (you can purchase tickets here!) and the show is playing at the Mark Taper Forum (135 N Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012) Tuesdays through Sundays now through 6/25. The performance length is about 2 hours and 30 min, including one 15 min intermission. Self-parking is available in the Music Center Garage for $10 at the Grand Ave entrance. I recommend getting to the theatre at least half an hour before show time!

Huge thank you to Center Theatre Group for having me last night! I had a blast!
