Is Disneyland’s Lunar New Year Sip & Savor Pass Worth It?
This might be controversial, but… I don’t think the Disneyland Sip and Savor pass for Lunar New Year is worth it.
I will preface with maybe it was my own fault for attempting to enjoy everything during the first weekend of Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure Park, but the crowds were extremely overwhelming to deal with. If you love to sample a bunch of different food items at the parks, then the Sip and Savor pass is a great option for $49 ($46 if you’re a Magic Key Holder) but as a bit of a foodie snob, I say save your money, and here’s why:
You Won’t Be Able to Try Everything in One Sitting
I don’t know about you, but I’m the type of person who likes to have all my food in front of me and then eat everything in one sitting. While I’m glad you’re able to order most of the items at one booth and then pick up at the respective locations, the lines were far too long for everything and the crowds were huge that by the time we found a spot to eat, everything was cold.
Lines, Lines, and More Lines
If you’re using the Sip and Savor pass for any of the participating restaurant locations (such as Lucky Fortune Cookery or Paradise Garden Grill), you have to wait in additional lines as you have to go to those specific spots to place your orders.
Portions Are Tiny
Personally, the portions that come with the Sip and Savor pass are too small for my liking, and I think you can find better tasting and more authentic Asian food for a better price outside the parks.
Skip the Marketplace Booths
I will say… not all the food options are bad! I really enjoyed the Strawberry Green Tea Bread Pudding from Aunt Cass Cafe and the Spicy Pork Belly Grilled Cheese from Pym Test Kitchen (but this isn’t part of the Sip & Savor pass). I’d recommend to just go to those restaurants and individually order these items instead!
If you’ve purchased a Sip and Savor pass this year or in previous years, what do you think? Do you agree with me, or do you feel like it’s worth the money and experience?
