Everything You Need to Know About Meeting Characters on the Disney Treasure
One of my favorite things to do on a Disney Cruise is meet all of my favorite characters! In this post, I’ll be sharing my best tips and everything you need to know to make the most of your time with the characters during your cruise.
You’ll find who will be out for meet and greets for the day on your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app! Once you’re on board, you can access the character schedule for every day of your cruise.
I generally recommend getting to the line about 15 minutes before the scheduled meet and greet time. Many of the characters are stacked back to back on the schedule, so being one of the first people in line helps get you to the next one early enough. Also, the character lines will be closed off 15 minutes after their posted meet and greet time, so as long as you’re in line before then, you’ll be all set!
Disney Photopass will be on hand to take professional photos for you with each of the characters (you can purchase these on board for an additional price), but if you’re using your personal camera like we did, please note that the lighting isn’t always the greatest if you’re taking photos without flash.
Sometimes you’ll see the characters randomly roaming around the ship (even if they’re not on the schedule) - don’t be afraid to go up to them and ask for a quick photo! This helped us a ton when we wanted to meet all the characters on the schedule for the day.
You’ll find Mickey and Friends in different outfits almost every night of the cruise! On most days they’ll be in their classic sailing outfits, but depending on the theme of the day, you might also catch them in special outfits (i.e. Formal Night, Pirate Night, Castaway Cay, etc.)!
On some days, your cruise may offer a “Royal Gathering” with various princesses - this is a free, reservation-required event and one that is very popular on board! Bookings are made available in the “Onboard Fun” section of your Cruise Activities planning section 30 days prior to your sailing, or if you miss out (like we initially did), you can always try visiting Guest Services once you’re on the ship to see if there’s any additional availability.
Hope this post helps you as your plan for your next Disney Cruise! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below.
