1776 Opening Night at the Ahmanson Theatre

Disclosure: Center Theatre Group provided us with two complimentary tickets to 1776 opening night. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Talk about some iconic HERstory at opening night of 1776 at the Ahmanson Theatre!

If you’ve never been to the Ahmanson Theatre before, it’s one of my favorite places to see live theatre! It’s located in Downtown LA at 135 N Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Self-parking is available in the Music Center Garage for $10 at the Grand Ave entrance. I recommend getting to the theatre at least half an hour before show time!

It was so nice running into our friends Logan and Brianna before the show started!

Ticket prices for 1776 range from $40 to $155 and the show is playing Tuesdays through Sundays now through 5/7. The performance length is 2 hours and 45 min, including one 15 min intermission.

1776 is based off the moments leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and focuses mostly on John Adams’ efforts to convince his fellow congressmen to vote for American independence. Please note this production contains stylized representations of racialized violence, particularly related to enslavement.

While the show itself felt a bit long, the cast gave a wonderful performance and it was still a fun time! I loved seeing this brilliant cast of women, trans, and non-binary individuals bring new depth, perspective, and meaningful representation (as well as a thought-provoking and relevant critique) to the revolutionary events that so many of us learned in our history books in school.

A huge thank you to Center Theatre Group for having me and Kev, and for always taking such good care of us at these events! Be sure to grab your tickets to 1776 here!
